From the time we left the marina you could tell this captain knew what he was doing and had the goal of putting fish in the boat that morning. As we pulled up to our first he said “look” the sonar screen was loaded with fish from 25 feet down to 50 feet. We started getting hits left and right but the fish were playing hard to get so he gave us some tips a changed the tackle set up a sure enough we started landing fish. Ended the day with our limit of red snapper and some nice mangrove snapper for the added bonus along with a few other species that were fun to see. Boat was very smooth and comfortable and had plenty of room for 5 people to fish and move around each other without feeling crowded. Any an all questions we had the captain had a thorough answer for us. When cleaning the fish you could tell he took his time to not waste the fish as some people will to make it go by faster a get moving on but was very pleased with the fillets. Overall will definitely be back on his boat when I’m in the area a want to feel a fish pull back against me. Everything was great about this trip!

Our captain was great and took us righ where we asked him to so we could see some areas of Horn Island frequented by Walter Anderson.

James McCanless is the best guide that I have used in the Mississippi Gulf coast area. His boat is very capable and comfortable to fish from. Captain James did everything he could to not only put us on fish, but put us on keeper size quality fish in multiple species. I will be using Captain James again when I fish the area.

Capt. James is the best around Biloxi. Bottom line, he does what it takes to catch fish. Not just take you out for the allotted time, he will try and try again until you find the fish.

We have done a few trips with Capt. James and they have always been memorable. His boat has all the amenities and can go from fishing the shallows of the marsh to the depths of the blue water and everything in between. He has extensive knowledge of fishing the coast and will show you the various techniques required to catch the fish. Don't hesitate to book a trip with Capt. James, you will not be disappointed!

The trip was a great hit! The boat was comfortable, the first mate was attentive to all of our needs and the Captain did not stop short of making the day a successful experience for everyone.I have been on many, many charter fishing trips over the years and Captain James is absolutely the best.

Captain James put us on fish immediately. Going for red snapper but the first fish on the hook was a cobia, and man talk about a fun fight! Snapper were in the area but he moved us because he wasn’t satisfied with the size that we were catching. In the new spot, not far from the first, we limited out on big snapper. He then put us on sharks and the fun was on again. As my dad says, a good time was had by all. Deckhand Austin is one of the most well mannered young men you will ever meet and he is at your beck and call for whatever you may need. The boat is awesome and provided plenty of room for multiple fish hookups simultaneously. Do yourself a favor and book a trip. You won’t regret it!

Had an amazing time with James! He’s a military veteran, family oriented, down to earth, great guy who knows fishing! Highly recommended for anyone looking to have a great day on the water!

"WHAT AN EPIC TRIP!! Just have to give it to Capt. James for blowing us away with one epic birthday trip. Completely blown away with his guidance, personality, and knowledge of the area’s fishery. Sheepshead has been on my bucket list since finding out about this fish and he made it happen for us. What a way to ring in 26!!! The boat was nice, perfect enough to hold our party of 4 (+ the captain) without being on top of one another and despite the cold weather, was still a very enjoyable morning on the water. Can’t say enough about the experience. Came to Biloxi with no expectations and came home with full hearts and a full cooler!! Thanks Capt. James, here’s to seeing you again (hopefully very soon!!!)" It was a heck of a trip, we'll have to do it again soon!!
